2. GATHER Banking Statements
GET YOUR BANK STATEMENTS
First step - Obtain your bank statements used in your business. Understand the difference between the CSV and PDF file types and why you need both.
Go directly to the videos below to Navigate your Specific Banking Website, step by step video.
Avoid Printing at Branch
It costs more if you visit your Bank and request a print out of the statements. Typing the information into Google Sheets Template will require you to type like a Ninja.
Don't Type - Get CSV
Choose the csv file option when downloading the Bank Statements, this allows the most seamless way to get your information onto the Bookkeeping template, mere copy and paste.
Reasons you need PDF
Your Tax Guy and others wanting to verify your Bookkeeping records will request the PDF copy of your Bank Statement, because it harder to edit.
Have this on hand, makes it easier.
FINAL STEP
After you obtain your bank statements do this ...
Save in a Structured Folder
Create a Folder on your Google Drive called "BANKING" and save the statements in the recommended structure making it easier to find.
Click below for the File Structure we recommend.
Update Bookkeeping Template
The Bookkeeping Template has a sheet named "BANKING" - copy and paste the information there.
